Marley's egg-bound emergency

Beautiful Marley came to see us when her diligent owners noticed she wasn’t well.

Our team identified that she was egg bound, a life-threatening condition in which an egg becomes stuck while trying to pass it. Dr Kiri and Nurse Indi sedated her to safely retrieve said egg as soon as possible. The procedure went smoothly and Marley was all ready to go home to her family by the afternoon!

Symptoms of a bird being egg bound can include heavy breathing, difficulty or disinterest in moving, weakness and loss of appetite. If you notice any of the above in your bird please seek emergency veterinary attention.
